Library 2.0 & the Learning Commons

Welcome to the Delcastle Technical High School Learning Commons.  This site has been created to discuss school libraries in the age of Web 2.0 and beyond. Library practice is deeply influenced by information technology and is deeply hampered by the lack of information literacy. And now we begin…to connect the pieces.  What 21st-century technology should be used to enhance our problem-solving and critical thinking skills?  The library learning commons replaces the traditional school library by merging digital and print media to meet the information needs of its faculty, staff, students, and learning community.  The library is no longer a place, but a program; without boundaries or hours of operation.  It is a virtual information environment accessible by anyone at any time.
